Small and beautiful
Agia Irini is often affectionately called "Palm Beach" due to its dense grove of palm trees that lend a tropical, exotic atmosphere, a highly photogenic setting. The beach is small and protected in a bay so the water is usually calm and shallow for a good distance making it excellent for families with younger children and nonexperienced swimmers. It is actually composed of two stretches of sand separated by low rocks, one side being more organized with sunbeds and umbrellas, and the other more pristine. The beach is located south of Parikia's main port, making it easily accessible by car or scooter for visitors staying nearby, and it is a known simple sunset spot. Visitors can find a simple tavern offering traditional Greek food and fresh fish right behind the beach. Due to its small size and popularity, particularly in peak season, it can feel crowded, and early arrival is advised for the best spot.
